The main character's head is a red bean paste bun.
He takes off parts of his head to give it to hungry children.
I've loved Anpanman since I was a child.
All Japanese have seen it at least once !!
There are many characters related to food such as Shokupanman and Currypanman.
One of my favorite character is Rollpanna. Do you know her? She is Melonpanna's sister.
She's very cool ! She uses a ribbon and help people in trouble.
I wish I was Melonpanna because she is loved by Rollpanna.

My son was a big fan of Anpanman last year when he was 4, but now that he's 5, he's a little less interested. These days everything is "tsuyoi" or "yowai"; unfortunately, Anpanman is in the latter category!
ReplyDeleteAnpanman is in Japan only, so I was surprised when I began learning about it. I think it's great to have a cast of characters based on food, but the idea of giving people pieces of one's head is a little bit strange for me!
